I went to Waterworks Museum on January 27th, 2022.
I learned the machines and engines that push water had changed many times and become more effective. Also, I was surprised that the first pipe of the water system was wooden, and wood was not suitable for the material of the pipe. In 1800, more and more people moved to Boston, and the city was crowded. Therefore, it was hard to get enough clean water. In addition, in 1814, the sharp of the city changed and became bigger. People tend to live at the top of the hill, so people have to change the engine to push water to up status. As increasing the number of people who live in Boston, they needed a bigger engine.
Also, I learned planting glass could avoid water pollution. I think it is suitable way to both reduce the amount of CO2 and water quality. On the other hand, streets that made from concrete tend to be permeable, so if there are chemicals and pollutants on the ground, it is easy to flow into rivers and drains. Also, I realized that each household’s impact is more significant than I expected, so I think it is necessary to teach people the effect each person has on the environment.
