Guest Speaker – Sara from One Bead

I attended Sarah’s lecture at Provost Hall on March 2.

I learned two main things: first, this organization values community by listening to students’ ideas first. They are encouraging many schools to set up games for leadership skills. These games are important for developing students’ identities and their future leaders. They also have networking activities. Second, they value feedback. She told us that she places particular emphasis on reflecting, engaging, and uplifting the young women’s community. She is particularly focused on reflecting, engaging, and uplifting the young women’s community, as there are many problems in society, for example, the low status of women in the workplace. From the above, I understood that this current progress and the solutions they continue to search for are very necessary for an equal society.

The most interesting was when she was asked about the values. I chose happiness. I believe that happiness takes different forms for different people. I am grateful for the connections I have made with others, and I truly believe that every day is fresh and fulfilling. And I was able to look deeply into myself this time and realize that one of my strong points, my “smile,” also comes from this kind of happiness. In addition, this happiness must be connected to my topic, well-being. In particular, I found that it has a great deal to do with mental health.

Finally, she mentioned, “we donated $9379 last year”. She said this is unprofitable. But as a result, she said, 96 percent of the students felt more confident in what they were saying. I hope to cherish this kind of mindset of valuing one’s own beliefs without asking for anything in return in the future.
