I heard the story from guest speaker Sara on March 4th.
I learned a lot of things related to education. One Bead’s, Sara’s company, tries to close the opportunity gap. For example, one program makes children grow leadership skills. I think leadership is important for the future when they work at the company. From the video I watched at this time, I could know Sara’s students’ opinions and issues in the education field. Besides, there was a technology issue due to the COVID. Especially the most surprising thing is that 21 million children do not have Wi-Fi, so they need Internet access to learn and study. I learned Internet access is not enough to receive education.
I also knew the importance of core values. Mainly, One Bead’s cherishes student’s opinions like that what students want to do. At the time, I choose the most important value from the list. It was hard to choose, but I selected one “family.”
After the guest speaker, our group asked Sara some questions. First, we asked about the American education issue. She said the school has an opportunity gap between low-income and wealthy families in Boston. In addition, it exists a lack of technology and resource. We need to solve these issues immediately. Second, we asked what we could do to help children. She told us that there is a volunteer chance in her organization.
This information was helpful and related to my research topic, education. I could know how to grow children put leadership skills, the lack of technology is a problem, and so on. Her company’s program listens to student’s ideas to better their education. I think this way can use for developing countries. I participated in the organization as volunteer care to children’s voices or opinions to help their lives and education. Of course, this organization hears ideas from children, their parents, or the community in developing nations.
By the way, she started her business herself even though she was so young. I wonder she had some difficulty, so my question is, what is the most difficult to start the company and tough things?
I recommended this research mission to someone who wants to start their own company like Sara to help children and learn about education.
