I went to Eastie Farm on February 10, 2022.
Eastie Farm is a grassroots effort to foster spaces for growing food and building community. It was located in a city and surrounded by houses, but it had a warm atmosphere. There are some plants, a compost bin, and oil drum that store rainwater. A staff at Eastie Farm said the local food supply is fresh, decreases elimination, and is eco-friendly. In addition, Eastie Farm provides food, farming, local community, and education. Therefore, it has many positive effects to make open space instead of building in a city. I asked a question about what they do to help hunger. He said that they received money from the government and distributed foods to local people for free when the COVID-19 pandemic. I heard that they worked hard for people in trouble because many people lost their jobs, and many restaurants closed at that time. I felt Eastie Farm is not a place that just provides food. Also, I think it is a great organization because it is eco-friendly and creates people’s community.
