GUEST SPEAKER ONE BEAD

On March 3, I had the chance to listen to Sara from One Bead.

One Bead offers an experiential learning program for children. The project helps children develop skills such as communication skills, leadership abilities, and creative problem-solving skills.

Sara, who we spoke with, started this One Bead when she was the same age as us. When she started this project, she thought about the four core values: youth idea, community, empathy, and humanity. However, these four core values were difficult to obtain from school-like learning, so she started One Bead.

Today, One Bead offers many students the chance to gain valuable experiential learning opportunities. For example, in a program called LLS (Local Leader Spotlight), students are able to talk and interview local entrepreneurs and innovators. Through these opportunities, children can form a variety of values as members of society.

In addition, Sarah gave me an opportunity to think about core values when I participated in this guest speaker program. I had never thought about these before, so I was able to rethink myself, which I think will be very useful in the future. It was also interesting to see how different people have different values.

Finally, our project theme is the relationship between climate change and the ocean, and we learned that children are also learning about this topic through the OneBead project. I felt it was a very good thing because I did not have the opportunity to learn about these issues when I was younger.
