I joined volunteer work at Cradles to Crayons on Mar 2nd. I learned that there are a lot of children who haven’t their parents or poor family. That’s why I understood that it is important for the community to coordinate and offer these no-longer-needed clothes to each other. The process of combining clothes, in which I participated was often troubling. Because I was worried that the children would not be happy with the clothes I put together as a set.” What if they don’t like them? But it was in those moments that I was able to communicate with my friends and the staff who did this with me at the same table. I learned that volunteering is not only the act of volunteering but also a good opportunity to foster communication with the various people you work with. I would definitely like to participate in such activities again. Also, I thought that in the future, I would be on the side of the clothing providers and help them. The most interesting was about the entrance to this facility. It was very interesting to see them collecting participants’ jackets and handing out new masks. I suspect that this is because they want to make sure that what we touch outside will not adhere to what they offer to the children. I could not find out from this activity anything related to the topic I am looking into, the changes in people’s lives in COVID-19. However, this infection must have created a new way to support them. Finally, I was interested to see if there are volunteer activities related to clothing in Japan. If not, I would like to suggest one to a charitable organization.
