I interviewed Catharine, who works at Foodbank, on March 1st.
We got a lot of helpful information for research from her. She said hunger is a complex issue, and it connects many aspects such as agriculture, community, natural resources, jobs, sustainable living, transportation, education, and healthcare. When I asked her, “Do you think the hunger situation is getting better?” she answered it is getting worse rather than better. Therefore, I thought hunger was not easy to solve. However, she taught us what we could do in our lives to solve hunger, and I was impressed by that. These actions are not buying too much food, educating myself, getting involved, and electing a politician to change the policy. I didn’t expect we could take many actions to reduce hunger, so I thought these ideas were interesting. If I do not buy too much food, the food can be donated to poor people. There is a connection between individuals and companies. Even if I cannot make a big change by myself, the small efforts of many people combined can have a significant impact.
