Eastie Farm

I visited the Eastie Farm, located on the East side of Boston, on February 10th, 2022.

They do a lot of projects like the CSA project that is to link farmers with neighbors, so they are growing vegetables, fruits, and plants with their community. For example, they grow plants by using rainwater from neighbors’ roofs, sell vegetables to local people, and gather food scraps from neighbors. They always use food scraps to compost because it is good for the environment.

I asked a question, “Do you do any acts for hunger?” They have given some vegetables to a soup kitchen and a food bank for two years because the COVID-19 pandemic exacerbated the bad situation of hunger. They were given grants from the government and grew vegetables by using this money.

I learned that they have a strong connection with neighbors and support the local economy and environment. The farm was smaller than I thought, but they do a lot of essential projects to solve problems.
