I went to Stillman’s Farm in Boston Public Market and Hay Market on February 19th, 2022.
When I saw vegetables at Boston Public Market, few plastics were used wrapping and protection containers. In addition, there were processed products such as jam and pickles in glass bottles. When I asked an owner some questions about plastic bags, he answered that many people come to this store and bring their bags. Also, He said he focused on plastic issues. On the other hand, When I went to Hay Market, I was surprised that almost everyone used plastic bags. I thought this was real, even though we had a problem to solve. From this field trip, I learned we must reconsider the consumption that is part of our topic to change the situation. I thought the way of selling vegetables was related to using plastic. Stillman’s Farm was one of the places in Boston Public Market, and Hay Market is an outdoor market. I thought weather and climate influence vegetables. I also considered making benefits is a good way to reduce plastic bags when consumers bring their bags. An example of a benefit is a discount or giving a point when organizers make a point card. I wanted to ask this question. I recommend Stillman’s Farm and Hay market to people interested in the different ways to sell products with plastic bags. They can compare to different situations.
