I went to small businesses on Jamaica Plain on February 23.
These stores are non-profit organizations.
We went to many small stores such as bakeries, vintage clothing, grocery store. One of the most memorable stores is the grocery store. The store serves every product from a local farm in Massachusetts.
The most surprising thing was the community refrigerator. I saw it for the first time. Every product in the fridge is all volunteer. Someone doesn’t eat all food, and they can leave it in the refrigerator, then other people can take the food. It is a good idea because almost everyone has the food they don’t eat, and the food is different from their imaginations. This organization does not support only small businesses. They built a space where people could sit and talk. So, they reduce the parking space. People can’t come to the shops by car, so the number of customers who come to shop on foot increases. Also, the amount of car decrease, traffic becomes less.
Sometimes, I went there on foot, but I didn’t know about the organization. And almost all stores serve sustainable products. I’d recommend these small stores who want to learn about the non-profit organization and do shopping at many good stores.
