Climate/Environmental Protection Protecting Ocean Life

presentation by British school students

On February 24, I participated in a presentation by students from the British School. I deepened my understanding of Climate Action.

They described the current state of climate change and some of the solutions. Then, they suggested one effective way to reduce climate change. It was making companies pay carbon taxes based on the amount of carbon dioxide they produce. I was surprised because I had focused only on eliminating the sources of carbon dioxide as a solution to climate change. However, their proposal was interesting because it focused not only on reducing emissions but also on visualizing the movement of emissions and making it easier for people to take action. In considering Climate Action for our research, I learned the importance of adapting solutions to the current situation.

After the presentation, I would like to know how SDG education is developed in schools across the United States. I would also like to know what differences there are in the approaches to climate change in the U.S. and Japan. I recommend this research mission to anyone who wants to learn more about how to improve climate change.
