Cradles to Crayons

I went to Cradles to Crayons as a volunteer on 2nd Mar.

They gave clothing bags for poor children. They collect disused clothes. There were many clothes boxes separated by clothes type, size, and gender. We made the bag to choose each clothes type. Then, they told us not to choose clothes about holidays, family, and siblings. They take care of children who don’t enjoy holidays and don’t live with family. I was surprised by their consideration of children. We don’t also choose summer clothes. I charged in girls’ clothes, so there were many cute clothes. When we make a bag for girls, we choose four shirts, five pairs of pants, two sweaters and extra dresses or skirts. We also had to think about whether each clothes matched, so we cared about the design and color. For example, when we choose five pairs of pants, we have to choose different colors. We made many bags about for one hour.

It was a fun time for me to make clothes bags. It was also a precious experiment. I volunteered for the first time. I hope children become happy and wear them many times when they give the bags. I also thought it was so sad that some children couldn’t enjoy holidays with their family. I want to join more volunteers in Boston.

By the way, they used many plastics products, for example, boxes and bag. Nowadays, plastics problems become worse in the world. We have to reduce them, so I think they should change to cardboard.
