Community Servings

I joined a volunteer at community servings on March 9th.

I heard from my friends who have been there before that they packed food for three hours, so I was worried about it. However, I was divided into the handling foods group, so I chopped some vegetables for three hours. It was a little bit hard for me because I don’t cook well, but the people there were all kind to me so that I could enjoy it. Before I started my work, I watched a video about what the community servings do and how they can support undernourished people. Unfortunately, there were very few opportunities to talk with other volunteers, but the atmosphere was good, so it was easy to ask anyone about anything. Although the good atmosphere, I couldn’t ask questions about issues like hunger or poverty. So, I’d like to search about serious issues related to SDG goals.

While I was working, I realized that the organization is promoting composting in the kitchen. When I chopped eggplants, one of the kitchen staff members told me to put calyx into the green bin to compost. So, I could find a new place that promotes composting. I’m glad that many companies are trying to prevent water pollution.
