On March 7th, I interviewed Luke Albertson on zoom. He is Mr. Brendon’s brother and runs an education company, so his knowledge became valuable information for our research topic. We are researching the education gap in the world. This was the first time for us to interview online, so we were nervous, but he was so kind and spoke English slowly so we could understand his talking.

We mainly asked Mr. Luke about our three research topics. The first question was the biggest problem about the US’s education, and he answered there is a gap between states. It was the same answer as us so that we could convince our research. Some areas provide students high quality of education, but other areas cannot do that due to the lack of state expenses. Therefore, he said every state should have same level of money and measures. As the second question, we asked about the difficulties for developing nations to receive education, and his reply was they do not have common standards for education. Still, some countries do not impose compulsory education on their children like other developed countries, so they need strict education rules to increase trained teachers and use their budget appropriately. The last information that we could get from him was the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, and it was almost the same answer with us. He mentioned the technologies leave behind students in poor areas in education. Those people cannot afford to have technologies, and also such digital devices need to be high-speed internet to take classes smoothly, so it is a challenge for unwealthy children. Thus, he said spending more money on education is necessary worldwide. In addition, he spoke people tend to use the funds to improve infrastructure, such as roads, because it can be visible for us, but the essential part that we should spend is education that we cannot see visibly.
After interviewing Mr. Luke, I felt his passion for education. We also have to do something related to education to improve this world, like his company.
Interviewing someone in English needs little courage, but listening to English from various people and getting knowledge is fun, so I recommend Showa Students ask some English speakers anything that you have interests.
