I went to Boston cares volunteer at the Fenway community center on March 2.
We distributed food to neighbors who needed free food. The Fenway community center is a clean building. At first, we bagged the food that came from the trucks there. After we finished preparing, we went to deliver that bagged food to some of the homes because there were people coming to this building to pick up the food and others in need of deliveries. I went to deliver to 2 houses, and those people had disabled legs or feet. Also, most of the people who got the service were elderly. Through the volunteer work, I felt the warmth of connection between people. The staff welcomed us, and we worked together with the people who we met for the first time. In addition, I felt like neighbors who use this service have appreciation and trust for the volunteer. I like the trustful relationship between people regardless of age, race, and social status. I could learn that there are many people who need free food, and there is an organization that helps those people with volunteers through this experience. Also, I realized that volunteering is not just about supplying things but about building a community of people.
