I went to Fenway Community Center to do a volunteer on March 3rd, 2022. We registered Boston Cares and sighed up the volunteer of Fenway Cares.
We unloaded a lot of boxes from the back of the truck and put food into bags. We made many sets of vegetables, bread, blueberries, and spinach. I was surprised that people in Fenway Cares threw away a lot of bread that the plastic wrapper opened. It was a waste. Food waste is one of the root causes of hunger, so I was very confused. I went there to help hungry people, but we did things that exacerbated the starvation. After packing, many people, especially older people, came to the center. And we delivered them to the home of people with disability.
It was a precious experience, so I would like to do volunteer again. In addition, I want as many people as possible to participate in volunteer activities to help hungry people.
