I visited Eastie Farm on 2, February 2022. The most interesting thing that I learned today is about water barrels. This system can store rainwater. This water helps to avoid disasters such as flooding during heavy rain. It is also used to grow plants when this farm faces a lack of rain. In addition, unlike underground water or city water, rainwater is not contaminated. In addition, rainwater is not included Chorains so that this water can have an abundance of bacteria. Moreover, this system can be made for free. That is because it is made from barrels that were supposed to be discarded by local batter shops. Based on these features, I believe this system is working well in developing countries since it can be introduced at a low cost and in an eco-friendly way.
In addition, what impressed me the most is that the environment between lands such as firms and water like ocean or river is strongly connected. For instance, people utilize chemicals too much to furnish nutrients for the soil, which leads to contaminated soil. And then, this kind of soil flows into the ocean. Thus, water in the ocean gets dirty. Additionally, the ash caused by the disposal of food waste is also the main cause of pollution. I think although the most ideal method to deal with it is eliminating food loss, it is almost impossible. One example of it is Showa Boston’s dormitory. Our dormitory always makes surplus foods so that students and teachers can eat enough food. Therefore, it is important to think about how to handle food waste efficiently.
