I went to Cradles to Crayons on March 2nd 2022.
There were more clothes that are donated by people than I expected.
I did sorting clothes for young girls.
We had to put the clothes with a stain, hole, and the words, such as family and holiday, in the red box to give other organizations. That’s because children who get those clothes may not have family and know about holidays such as Christmas. Therefore, they do not give those clothes to children not to make them sad. In addition, we had to think about the combination of T-shirts and pants and avoid giving the same kind of pants and T-shirts.
I was surprised that the staffs of Cradles to Crayons think about children carefully and try to boost children’s self-esteem to give them good clothes. I felt the pressure a little bit because I had to choose clothes carefully for children, but it was a good experience, and I really enjoyed it.
Also, I was inspired that many nice clothes are donated because I think in Japan, few people donate clothes for people who suffer from a lack of clothes.
