Zero Hunger Zero Poverty

Community servings

I went to COMMUNITY SERVINGS on March 2, 2022.

COMMUNITY SERVING is a non-profit food and nutrition program providing services, and I helped plate food in specific containers. About ten people, including me, participated in an activity. Before starting plating food, I watched a video like a small orientation. I learned that COMMUNITY SERVING contributes to providing food for people who struggle with hunger, poverty, illness, and lack of health. In this video, I also learned that there are not only people struggling from disease but also a family who don’t have much food in one day. That percentage occupied over 30, so I was surprised. When I walked around inside, there were different places where people who came to do volunteer work could contribute through many processes. I left plating food to me, and I felt many dishes were healthy because there were vegetables, meat, and rice. The staff said that they think about the food balance to support people. Something that must be done was only plating food, but I learned a lot, and it was important for people waiting for food. This volunteer seems a different topic than my research, but I found one thing related to the research. It’s containers. We used paper packages to transfer food from the primary container to a small box for consumers. It was strong touch, but I felt it was made from paper. When it comes to thinking about my research relationship, this situation was a small thing. However, I learned that action against serious plastic issues has influenced extensively. After the all-volunteer work finished, I wanted to know how many foods provide per day. And I also wanted to know about another action or attempt consciously of environmental issues like plastic issues because I think food and plastic have a strong connection? These are my question. I recommend this service to people who want to provide food for people who experience serious situations.
