On February 25th, students from a British school came to Showa Boston to give us a presentation about each SDGs topic. I listened to education as my research topic, but his speaking was a little faster for me, so it was difficult to understand all information. However, I was impressed by his exciting presentation style and leading to discussion time, and also I felt American class style by other British school students. I was disappointed with my English skill, so I will improve them more.

The speaker mainly emphasized the importance of Education for children because it strongly influences their future life. Children who could not access education tend not to find jobs or have healthy food. Therefore, he suggested necessary actions. For example, he believes making job opportunities is essential for financial stability since money is needed to make their children go to school, reducing child labor and increasing more educated children. In addition, I learned to make people in developing countries realize the importance of Education in children can also be a solution. There are still some countries that do not allow children to receive an education due to cultural restrictions, so keeping to stress the necessity of Education is required for the areas.
I feel his presentation about education issues and solutions can be useful for my research. Pisa ranking that evaluates each country’s student score of subjects, such as math, was new information for me. I also learned that countries with high scores tend to be wealthy in terms of economy, so I think these indexes can measure and solve inequality education situation issues.
After his presentation, I was wondering about him, and that was the presentation skills and background to search this severe topic. Although he is younger than me, I should learn from his attitude because he had the confidence to speak in front of unknown audiences even though he had no members. This was the first time for me to listen to the presentation of a British school student, and understanding everything was difficult for me, but I feel this was a good opportunity to be motivated for English. Thus, I recommend that Showa students meet them if there is another opportunity.
