I visited Jamaica plain association on February 23th, 2022.
I was interested in Carrot Flower. I learned the owner has a fridge for garbage. I knew some shops and companies to try to protect the environment. But Carrot Flower is the only shop I knew that spent the extra money to protect the environment. In addition to the fridge, they use paper packages for the environment. During the coronavirus pandemic, more and more people take out their food. Then, she thought plastic packages were not eco-friendly. I asked the owner about water pollution, but she does not do an activity that has something to do with water. However, I think a fridge for garbage is also suitable for water quality because I learned poor treatment of trash has a harmful impact on water.
Also, ingredients such as chocolate and honey in stores of the community are local and organic. I think using local food is essential because it can reduce the amount of CO2 emission comparing transfer from farms and factories in other cities.
Also, I was surprised that there is a community fridge for people who cannot get food. I have never seen such an example to eliminate poverty, so I was inspired.
