We went to Bakery, city feed and supply, toy store, cafe, and consignment store on February 23th, 2022.
I learned what is small business. Small business is only 4-5 employees. It is difficult to succeed, but it can help the local economy. Most of them use local food. In the bakery case, they use local chocolate or coffee. By using local food as a material, it can help each other. In the case of City feed and supply stores, they sell fair trade production and local production. Also, they focus on recycling so they separate the trash into many categories. It can help to recycle easily. In a consignment store, the owner donates to charity. In addition, a small business can help the environment. The employees who work near the store, they go to work on foot because they can go there without a car. It is a small thing but if many people do that it can be a big solution. The most surprising thing is the community refrigerator. I saw it for the first time. It is everyone can get food from there. I think many people have food which can’t eat all or it tastes different than they thought. So I think it is a good idea.
My topic is poverty so I can relate to community refrigerators and fair trade products. If developed countries set up community refrigerators or clothes for developing countries, it can help them. Also if we buy fair trade products, it can help poor countries too. My new question is how many does Boston have community refrigerators? I’d recommend anyone who wants to go shopping in JP.
