We visited the waterworks museum on January 26.
My research topic is water sanitation, so I could learn many things from this trip, and I will make use of this experience in my research project. We heard explanations about water machines. The machines changed to meet the demand of the citizen’s population, and it was interesting that the machine was made to fit the shape of the building. Besides, I was surprised and amazed at the simplicity of how they still use gravity to supply water.
The important thing that I learned was the connection between minorities, locations, and clean water. The water tends to be dirtier in urban areas with many factories than in rural areas. Among the many findings, the most memorable was the link with racial minorities. Racial minorities tend to have difficult situations to get good jobs in the U.S. So, it is also related to low income. I would like to focus on developing countries about my research, so this information was so helpful to my research. Moreover, I could learn many ways to change rainwater into clean water. Rainwater includes many pebbles and dirty mud, and so on. I was surprised that planting effectively prevents these kinds of things. Planting has an effect not only on making clean water but also good for the environment. This information made me realize how important it is to produce clean water while considering the environment and cost.
