I visited the waterworks museum on January 26.
The most important information is that there are multiple solutions to reduce contaminated water. Before I learned about the answer, I only came up with the idea of educating people about water pollution and not flowing food waste into water. However, there are other ways to improve water pollution, such as planting many greens, using electric cars, etc. The most important and effective way to improve the water situation is to let all people understand the main cause and current water situation. By doing so, people will consider water pollution more serious.
The most surprising and interesting thing was that the distribution of ethnic groups is related to good and bad water situations. In the past, people came to the United States to get a job, and almost all of them worked at factories. Factories are one of the causes of water pollution because they produce chemicals a lot. Once those chemicals flow into the water, it starts contaminating. From this fact, there are still some water quality gaps between rural areas with many factories and racial minorities and the urban regions with fewer factories and racial majorities. Furthermore, people with low income were also in a complicated water situation.
My research project is about the comparison of water pollution between the US and China, so takeaways from the trip are essential to my research. Luckily, when we saw the water situation of each country, my article was about China. I could understand that flooding is considered a serious issue in China. I believe I can use this information for my research.
The trip to the waterworks museum was effective for me because there was a lot of information that I didn’t know, so if I could go there one more time, I would go and ask more related to my research project.
