We visited Eastie Farm on Feb 10th.
Eastie Farm is providing fresh, nutritious food to people who don’t have access. Local food is expensive compared to factory-made food, so those people can’t get enough nutrition. I think having a farming place in the community is a good idea because green creates clean air, and people can get fresh crops. I feel this is not happening in Tokyo because the population has been concentrated, and people need places to live. But this is good for the environment and local community, so planting on rooftops like companies will work. Actually, some companies are trying to grow plants on their rooftop, and also citizens can rent a place for gardening. I wanted to ask when they started composting from food scraps, but I couldn’t tell them well. The question changed to how long does it take to make compost from food scraps. Anyway, though, I got the answer that it takes three to six months, depending on the season. Usually, food gets rotten earlier in summer than winter. I could ask some questions, and it was a good opportunity to know about their activity for the environment.
